To embroider properly use a special cross stitch needle. Such needles do not have a point and are larger because the thread is also thicker.
In the average pack of needles, you will find different sizes.
There are also specific needlework needles that allow you to do a certain stitch better, such as a French knot.

You can cross stitch on different kinds of evenweave fabric. It may be evenweave linen, Aida cloth, waste canvas etc. It is largely a matter of your personal preference.
Just remember: the number of stitches per inch (or per cm) can drastically change the look of your ready project.
Fabric with a higher stitch will produce smaller and finer designs.

Preserving the direction of your stitches is very importent. Once you choose it don't change, stick with it unless your project specifically calls for it. It helps you to avoid your project looking haphazard and sloppy.
You can find fabric for cross stitching in different sizes, colors and types.

Aida, linen and evenweave are the most common types of cross-stitch fabric. The standard Aida fabric is a good fabric for beginners because the holes are large and easy to see.
Note - it is the number of holes per inch that determines the size of your stitches.
Make sure your stitches are not too tight. If you pull down the needle too tight, the stitches will look flat, and the Aida fabric may
be damaged.
Of course it is preferable to embroider in natural light: it puts less strain on your eyes, but it does not always work. So try to embroider closer to the lamp.
Try to plan the whole design in advance. Check that you have all the accessories. This is so annoying when the thread is over, when all the cross-stitch project is almost done.
For sure you are want to beautifully display your finished cross stitch, embroidery or needlework projects.
The easiest way to do it is to put them in a frame.
Just choose a frame that complements your design and a neutral mat color for the mat next to the frame.
Before framing make sure you have enough extra fabric around the design.
